UN Honours Guards and Others Killed In Bomb Blast.

Yesterday an honorary service was held at the grounds of the UN building in Abuja in honour of the people affected by the bomb blast.

It was recorded that 23 people died from the blast and 116 people were wounded.

Present at the ceremony was Daouda Toure the UN's resident cordinator in Nigeria who read a brief statement from UN secretary gen. Ban Ki-Moon.

Toure's later comments gave a glimse of what happened on that day of the attack, "when a suicide bomber in a sedan slammed through two exit gates to drive his call into the glass reception hall of the building"

He also recalled the selflessness of a female security guard who ran to the car, thinking that the driver had accidentally crashed into the UN building, only to be the first victim of the explosion.

In closing, Nigeria foreign minister Olugbenga Ashiru, representing our president said that Nigeria would do anything in her powers to assist the UN in its work.

The service also had a 21 gun salute in honour of those that died.
